How to Find Your Terminal

Windows

Using Command Prompt:

  1. Search: Click on the Start Menu (or press Win key) and type cmd.
  2. Open: Click on Command Prompt from the search results.

Using Windows PowerShell:

  1. Search: Click on the Start Menu (or press Win key) and type powershell.
  2. Open: Click on Windows PowerShell from the search results.

Using Windows Terminal:

  1. Search: Click on the Start Menu (or press Win key) and type terminal.
  2. Open: Click on Windows Terminal from the search results.

macOS

Using Spotlight:

  1. Search: Press Cmd + Space to open Spotlight.
  2. Type: Enter Terminal and press Enter.
  3. Open: The Terminal app will open.

Using Finder:

  1. Open Finder: Click on the Finder icon in your dock.
  2. Go to Applications: Navigate to the Applications folder.
  3. Go to Utilities: Find and open the Utilities folder.
  4. Open Terminal: Double-click on Terminal.

Linux

Using the Application Menu:

  1. Open Menu: Click on the Application Menu (sometimes called "Activities" or "Applications") in your desktop environment.
  2. Search: Type Terminal.
  3. Open: Click on the Terminal application.

Using Keyboard Shortcut:

Using the Desktop Environment:

  1. GNOME/KDE/Xfce: Right-click on the desktop or within a folder.
  2. Select: Choose Open Terminal from the context menu.
